Winner’s Bet’s introduction to the breeding scene was nothing short of eagerly anticipated. He was fully booked (140 mares) already in February this year – before the breeding season had even begun! And it’s no surprise. Winner’s Bet is the richest son of the breeding giant Walner. He showed early development, talent, and toughness. As a two-year-old he captured the William Wellwood Memorial. His finish in the Stanley Dancer Memorial, where he used his trademark burst of speed to toy with Hambletonian winner Tactical Approach, was a true display of dominance. As a four-year-old, Winner's Bet won nine of 13 starts, including the Breeders Crown, and was honored with the Dan Patch Award as Older Trotter of the Year.
His dam, Side Bet Hanover, was a top filly of her crop, holding a 1:52 (1.10) record and earning over two million SEK. She also won an elimination of the Hambletonian Oaks. His third dam, Sounds Swell, produced Spellbound Hanover — herself a top filly with nearly one million dollars in earnings — but more importantly, she is the dam of one of the greatest racehorses on the other side of the Atlantic: Marion Marauder. Marion won the “Triple Crown” in 2016 — the Hambletonian, Yonkers Trot, and Kentucky Futurity — and earned a total of 3.6 million dollars!
Winner’s Bet enters stud with enormous expectations and every opportunity to live up to them. He combines talent, pedigree, and astonishing performances, highlighted by his devastating finishing speed — in more than ten appearances he closed his final quarter in 26,4 (1.06,5) or faster, leaving a lasting impression!
